After posting several pink gadget since the launching of this blog, finally i found the theory behind the attraction to pink for most of women. The new theory was concluded by researchers, and the method was asking men and women to look at 1,000 colors, and pick the one they liked most. And unsurprisingly women opt for purplish to reddish hues in the color spectrum.

Anya Hurlbert, a neuroscientist who led the study, says, “We speculate that this sex difference arose from sex-specific functional specialization in the evolutionary division of labour.”

Well, no. The “preference” women have of pink/reddish hues to others is not biological — it is completely structured by society. Gender differences and roles are such a huge part of our culture that it’s often pretty ridiculous.

Females prefer pink technotoys over, say pastel green, or sea blue,? Or if only given the choice of pink or geek-tech grey? I only know one female who prefers pink, and she is ten years old.

Perhaps women prefer any color to grey/black due to the survival instinct of not choosing grey/black (read rotten) foods. so that preference for color carries over to today’s high tech world.

Which raises the companion question of: why do guys always manufacture everything in grey or black?
